Blue and Green Milk: Disneyland’s Galaxy’s Edge Drinks

No visit to Galaxy’s Edge would be complete without a tall glass of Blue Milk and intergalactic travelers heading to Disneyland’s new themed land this summer will be able to choose between three varieties of the signature “Star Wars” drink.
The Milk Stand will offer two flavors — Blue Milk and Green Milk — in the Black Spire Outpost village, where the new land will be set in the “Star Wars” universe. Nearby, Oga’s Cantina will offer a third take on the beverage with a Blue Bantha milk and cookies combo.
The trio of “Star Wars” drinks will be sold at the 14-acre Galaxy’s Edge lands now under construction at Disneyland in Anaheim and Disney’s Hollywood Studios near Orlando, Florida.
Disney World food and beverage concept development director Brian Koziol unveiled Blue Milk, Green Milk and the Blue Bantha during a media event at Disneyland.
Koziol described the drinks are “flavorful and delicious.”
Ever since the original 1977 “Star Wars” movie, fans have wondered the same thing: What does Blue Milk taste like?
The decades-old question presented both a challenge and an opportunity for Disney’s culinary team. Koziol and his crew has spent years trying to devise a tasty answer.
Milk Stand
Storytelling is key in any Disney project and Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge is no exception. Every shop, restaurant and food stand in Black Spire Outpost will have an extensive backstory and proprietor from the “Star Wars” universe.
The Milk Stand will serve both the Blue Milk first seen in the original “Star Wars” movie and the Green Milk introduced in “The Last Jedi.” Luke Skywalker drank Blue Milk during a meal at his family’s moisture farm on Tatooine. Luke milked a sea creature known as a Thala-Siren to get Green Milk while on Ahch-To.
The Blue Milk and Green Milk sold at the Milk Stand will be a frozen-style beverage.
“It’s going to have a substance, texture wise, like a smoothie,” Koziol said. “Maybe even almost like a milkshake.”
Blue Milk will have berry and melon flavors.
“There’s essences of some berry combinations that can come through there,” Koziol said. “A lot more melony types of fruits.”
Green Milk will have tropical and citrus flavors.
“You can think of orange blossom, a little tangerine maybe or citrus elements,” Koziol said. “A little more tropical in its essence.”
Oga’s Cantina
Around the corner from the Milk Stand, Oga’s Cantina will serve a non-alcoholic cocktail based on the Blue Milk recipe. Rather than a smoothie or milkshake, the Blue Bantha will be a non-dairy plant-based chilled milk.
The milk and cookies menu item at Oga’s Cantina will include a Blue Bantha cocktail served with a Bantha cookie chaser. A Rice Krispie treat cookie with a fondant Bantha horn is served on top of the glass.
Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge opens May 31 at Disneyland and Aug. 29 at Disney’s Hollywood Studios–it’s sure to offer a colorful adventure to visitors.
